Work Less, Live More? Sure

New, 10 comments

Even more to relay from yesterday's Planning Commission meeting: Blogdowntown reports that the commission approved a revision to the definition of live/work units, a move that unclassifies the units as mostly commercial spaces, and ultimately allows more buyers to take advantage of loans from the Federal Housing Administration when buying such types of properties. Believing the change in status could help more first-time home buyers, Bill Stephenson of Downtown Properties, which developed the Rowan and El Dorado buildings, calls the decision "a very big deal for a very many people." According to the blog, an ordinance passed in 1999 created about 14,000 live/work units in the city. [Blogdowntown]
