The LA Times reports that Los Angeles County has reduced solar panel permit fees to $370 (the average fee had previously been up around $1,100). The fee chop is in response to a Sierra Club survey that called out Los Angeles for charging way more than surrounding counties--Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura Counties all averaged in the $300 to $400 range. The reduction will benefit the sustainably-minded in La Habra Heights most--the city was charging $1,572 for permits. Burbank, on the other hand, charges no fee for a permit, nor is there any wait time. (It can take weeks in other cities.) [Photo via Metro Library and Archive] [LA Times]
