The transformation of Venice's Hotel Erwin is nearly complete. The former Best Western hotel (later reborn as the Marina Pacific Hotel) at 1697 Pacific Avenue is now operating as the Hotel Erwin, offering rooms from $149 and up a night. The weather didn't cooperate for the early Sunday morning tour-the view from the rooftop High bar looked very gray--but the rooms themselves seemed pleasant and quite adequate. Cheerier and sunnier photos of the strangely shaped roofdeck, which is built around the roof of the hotel, via the hotel can be seen here. Work was still being done on both the car courtyard area, as well as what looked to be some sort of exercise room. Meanwhile, if a local developer gets his way, another Venice hotel will rise on Ocean Walk.
