CurbedWire: LACMA Wrapped, Hitoshi Abe at Hammer

New, 2 comments

MID-WIlSHIRE: As part of Los Angeles County Museum of Art's show, "Your Bright Future: 12 Contemporary Artists from South Korea," Choi Jeong-Hwa has wrapped the Ahmanson Building in brightly colored fabrics. Maybe he can wrap the bankrupt Le Melange building next door, too. The show opens this weekend, and here's how the current exhibition is looking against the backdrop of all those crazy colors. WESTWOOD: As part of its lecture series, the Hammer Museum will present a talk with Dr. Hitoshi Abe, professor and chair of the UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design, on June 30th. According to the web site, Abe will "discuss his distinguished career as a practicing architect and a leader in education. Known for architecture that is spatially complex and structurally innovative, the work of Atelier Hitoshi Abe has been exhibited internationally and has received numerous awards." [Hammer Museum]
