Following that list of the state's most polluted beaches comes this troubling news from Spouting Off, the blog run by Mark Gold, director of Heal the Bay (and the brother of LA Weekly food critic Jonathan Gold): "The state Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) finally released its health advisory and safe eating guidelines for fish caught from coastal areas from Ventura Harbor south to the Dana Point area....Basically, the guide is saying that women of child-bearing age and children should reduce or avoid eating most fish from central Santa Monica Bay to Palos Verdes to all of San Pedro Bay." There's a whole bunch of fish listed on the banned list, while halibut and "shovelnose guitarfish" should only be eaten once a week. Unclear if the halibut looked like that before he ate the pollution. [Spouting Off]
