[Pico Aliso stop* along Gold Line]
A couple of months ago, the chatter was that MTA officials wanted the Gold Line Extension, the six-mile train which'll go from Union Station to East LA, to open on June 19th. MTA spokesperson Jose Ubaldo is now saying it's unlikely that'll the line will open in June, but says that'll open "this summer." As for the workers themselves, at least two workers in the last week have told us they're hearing a date of June 26th or the end of June. (Meanwhile, it's worth pointing out the extension work is ahead of schedule overall). One thing that is known: For about the last two weeks, it's been possible to see the train in action--it's been making regular trips (part of the action is due to training).
