Now You Should Go. Yes, Go.

It was back in January that local firefighters discussed implementing a program in California that would teach homeowners how to fight fires themselves, a concept modeled after an Australia program, where homeowners in rural areas learned how to make their homes more resistant to flames and defend the residences against blazes. Well, that idea has been scratched, reports the Pasadena Star-News. "Fire officials from eight agencies held a press conference Wednesday in Diamond Bar to announce their "Ready, Set, Go" policy. It's a move away from the stay-and-defend strategy that agencies were considering a few months ago in which homeowners would be trained to defend their homes from stray embers." [PSN]
