CurbedWire: Giant Ribbons Getting Lacquered, Public Works Week

New, 6 comments

HOLLYWOOD: Well, this is nice. On Saturday, June 6, the two giant AIDS ribbons which adorn the Hollywood United Methodist Church tower will undergo a major restoration. This initiative was spearheaded by congregant and NCIS actress Pauley Perrette, and conducted by her team of artisans. "The famous ribbons will be resurfaced and repainted to last for years as an important symbol in the heart of Hollywood," according to the release. "Restoration will begin at 6 a.m., with the symbolic red lacquer being applied later in the day. The work will culminate in a rededication on Sunday, June 7th during the 11 a.m. service." WEST HOLLYWOOD: Bet you didn't know (care?) it was National Public Works Week. Well, it is, and WeHo celebrated the wonders of infrastructure today by publicly cleaning out one of the city's eco-friendly storm drain excluders, which prevent litter from making its way to the ocean. That wacky WeHo, always up to something. Photo of smiling politicians with brooms after the jump. [Curbed InBox]
