PriceUpper: Atwater New Listings Still Enrage

New, 37 comments

If there's one neighborhood that causes people to go ballistic over prices, it's Atwater Village. Maybe it's the geography of the neighborhood: Real estate agents sneakily try and list the homes under "Los Feliz," perhaps thinking that Atwater is the next Los Feliz, the next upscale hood. No, Atwater is just Atwater: Flat, friendly, a little dull. Sending in the following listing, a reader writes: "Ridiculous. The would be too much even during the bubble era." The three-bedroom, two-bath home (1,477 square feet, according to Zillow), which last sold in 2005 for $615,000 is listed at $775,000. More via listing: "Charming Spanish in Atwater Village with period details. 3 + 2 incl. large master suite with crown molding and lots of closets. Updated kitchen complete with granite counters, center island, stainless appliances. Yard features fruit trees and covered patio great for entertaining.. Newer roof (2005). Walk to restaurants, Sunday farmers market. Close to freeways, dowtown." How much would this home cost if it actually was in Los Feliz?
