Century City's Big Crane is Coming Down

New, 16 comments

Oh, the endangered crane. As exterior construction work wraps up on The Century, the erector set that built developer Related Cos' 42-story tower began lowering last week. According to a spokesperson for the project, interior elevators are now operating in the Robert A.M Stern-designed building (which'll eventually house Candy Spelling on its two top floors). Move-ins are scheduled for 2010, and all those future Century residents will have a front row seat to the preservation battle at the nearby Century Plaza Hotel, which developers want to tear down to build two towers. If you want to move to Century City to watch the action, the cheapest units at the Century tower start at a mind-boggling $3.3 million.
