Former LA Times real estate blogger Peter Viles has taken to the road - and Twitter. @peteviles: "Sucky economy = sweet commute in LA. Hit 80 on the 10 this a.m. between the 405 and downtown." Yes! We have heard similar stories about easier commutes (perhaps because of layoffs). In fact, a call was put into the Department of Transportation earlier this year to see if their traffic bureau kept actual statistics on traffic patterns. The answer: Such records weren't available (at least to us). But enjoy the roads. [Twitter]
