The latest store info, retail gossip and sidewalk scenes from street-obsessed Racked LA.
MALIBU: So goes the housing boom, so goes Shabby Chic. Racked LA has the story on the closing of British transplant Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic chain. All of Ashwell's stores are closing down, including the one in the Cross Creek shopping center in Malibu, where everything is currently on sale. And on the company's website, Ashwell has penned a goodbye poem to customer. Goodbye, dresser dusters.
SILVER LAKE: Silver Lake's Vamp Shoes is moving on up in the world. Wedged into a shopping center (with a pretty undesirable parking lot), the shoe store is moving to finer digs, specifically the former White Trash Charms space at 1951 Hillhurst Ave.
HOLLYWOOD: Hollywood and Highland is getting a little more hip--and longtime fixture Scout is seeing some big changes. Via Racked LA: "Scout has re-opened at 1646 N Cherokee Avenue, bringing its womenswear line and vintage selection to the once fashion-starved neighborhood. It's not just the address that changed with the boutique's northward move - the store will no longer be carrying labels other than Scout Collection, and owner Joseph Grana has decided to do away with menswear completely (save for a few select vintage pieces)."
