New York and LA are the places where ideas and trends in art, fashion, film, music, theatre, TV, and books originate, and now a new study from professors at USC and Columbia University looks at what neighborhoods--in those two cities--all those trends come from. According to a story in The New York Times, the study says LA's buzz is manufactured less in trendy neighborhoods like Silver Lake, Echo Park, or Venice. Rather, the trend-setting neighborhoods are Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and WeHo (click on map to see for yourself). This information may finally explain the existence of SUVS, crocs, and velour tracksuits. [New York Times]
