Taggers Cheer Construction Slowdown

New, 2 comments

Ugly tagging, ugly blight. Nothing worse. Taggers are attacking unused Gold Line railroad cars on a three-mile stretch going from Irwin and Monrovia, reports the Pasadena Star-News. The problem is that the cars are owned by BNSF Railway (Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.) "Since the cars are not owned by the cities, local officials have no authority to clean up graffiti as they normally would. '"We don't have any jurisdiction over the right-of-way,'" Arcadia City Manager Don Penman said. 'We're not permitted to go on there to abate it.'" According to the paper, BNSF Railway is looking into solutions to cleaning up the tagging. [PSN]
