This past weekend in New York, 120 illegal billboards were first whitewashed and then transformed into pieces of art, reports the Wooster Collective. "While illegal, these violations are not being prosecuted by the City of New York, allowing the billboard companies to garner huge profits by cluttering our outdoor space with intrusive and ugly ads." Perhaps this is a project for LACMA to jump on.
