A reader wants to make the most out of an empty lot situation. Can anyone get her on the right track to free squash for life? "I live in a perfectly nice part of West LA. The only problem is there is an empty lot smack dab in the dense little neighborhood. Weeds have sprouted, some almost past the fence that surrounds the one-block parcel, which is currently a complete waste of space. I don't have the time to lobby for a park but would it be too difficult for my neighbors and I to start a community garden? How would I even begin that process? Who would I talk too: my neighbors, 311, or my city councilman/woman?"
