Funky-Looking Bicycle Racks Planned for East Hollywood

New, 13 comments

What is it with Los Angeles and word-heavy public art? It's seemingly impossible to take the Metro or visit many of our parks without seeing readable art. And now from City Council President Eric Garcetti's blog, we learn that a stretch of Hollywood Blvd. between Western and Vermont will be getting two-dozen new public art bike racks. The racks, designed by Melrose Hill resident Forester Rudolph, are in the shape of a speech bubble and will be engraved with proverbs from the immigrant communities of East Hollywood. Expect to learn a new Thai or Armenian proverb next time you lock up. Meanwhile, these racks follow those nifty downtown racks that arrived last year in Downtown near the new LAPD headquarters. --Dan Caroselli
