CurbedWire: Horses Overtake Downtown, Cole's Talk Tonight

New, 13 comments

DOWNTOWN: What with their volleyball courts and strangely quiet (and possibly empty) apartments, the Orsini I and II rental projects north of downtown are a source of endless fascination. And the fascination continues with the news that there now is an art mural of horses galloping back and forth between Orsini I and II. How this fits into the faux-Tuscan theme isn't clear, but who doesn't enjoy watching a little giddup while sitting in traffic. [Curbed Staff]

DOWNTOWN: Tasty venue, tasty talk: Tonight, Curbed editor Marissa Gluck, part of the team behind de LaB aka Design East of La Brea, a group that gathers folks to raise awareness of the built environment and special projects, will help host a special event at downtown restaurant Cole's. It runs from 7-10:00 p.m. with a tour at 8:30. More about the event: "Sponsored by deLab and 213 designer Ricki Kline (also of Seven Grand, Golden Gopher and Broadway Bar) the event will discuss the creative process behind rehabilitating the treasured landmark. Add Cole's to the list of eateries de LaB has temporarily transformed into lively educational venues, including the Edison, Kitchen 24, and Blue Velvet (coming next month). 118 E. 6th St., Downtown, (213) 622-4090."
