At last night's Silver Lake Neighborhood Council meeting, the board "voted unanimously in favor of a motion stating that it will 'oppose the Sunset Junction Street Festival in its current format,'" according to the LA Weekly. After last years' debacle of a festival (some attendees paid $20 to get into the festival amid reports that it was actually supposed to be a free event), there have been concerns about the future of the concert (also, the tipping point came when a Sotheby's booth showed up). At last night's meeting, festival organizer Michael McKinley argued in favor of that $20 cover charge, saying the money goes to community works projects, according to the Weekly. [LA Weekly]
