"Watchmen" Ride Delayed in Abu Dhabi

New, 2 comments

Businessweek is reporting that the ground-breaking for a planned Warner Brothers theme park in Abu Dhabi has been delayed, and there are questions about whether parts of $1 billion deal (which includes financing films together) between the Hollywood studio and the Abu Dhabi government will go forward. Warner Brothers is just one of many studios who had plans to build in the Middle East: Last year Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) inked a deal with Sorouh Real Estate, one of Abu Dhabi's largest real estate developers, to build a entertainment-themed complex. Universal Studios and Marvel Entertainment have previously announced plans to build in Dubai, while the LA Times reported last year that Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have planned parks in Dubai.
