LAUSD: Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Park Now Opening Fall

It was last September that the Robert F. Kennedy memorial park, a 1/3 acre pocket park off Wilshire, broke ground at the site of the old Ambassador Hotel (it's right near the schools they're building). If the project was supposed to be finished by spring 2009, LAUSD rep Shannon Haber says the hold-up in construction is due to the approval process by the Division of the State Architect, a state agency that oversees the building of California's K-12 schools and community colleges. We didn't speak with anyone at the Division of the State Architect. Haber says the design was just approved and the park now has an November opening date. The design remains the same, she says. Let's just hope they replace the ratty plastic covering the famous pylon soon.
