Gehry on Grand, Atlantic Yards Delays

New, 6 comments

"I've had a disappointing year, couple of years, with Grand Avenue and Brooklyn," architect Frank Gehry tells LA Times, expressing his disappointment over the status of downtown's Grand Avenue mixed-use development and the Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn (both face delays due to the economy). "All my life I've wanted to do projects like that, and they never came to me. And then all of a sudden I had two of them. I invested the last five years in them, and they're both stopped. So it leaves a very hollow feeling in your bones." The Times piece ran on Sunday to mark Gehry's 80th birthday (which was Saturday). [LA Times]
