Holy Deep Throat! LA Firm Selling Watergate Building

New, 3 comments

The nation's most famous ugly office tower is on the market, courtesy of owner BentleyForbes, a Century City real estate investment firm. The Washington Post reports that the 11-story Watergate office tower in D.C., where the 1972 burglary that took down Tricky Dick took place, is up for sale, along with 66,000 square feet of nearby retail, and a parking garage. BentleyForbes bought this portion of the Watergate complex for $86.5 million in 2005 and put another $4 million into renovations. Even though the market sucks, BF is looking to get "north of 100 million" (oy) for the Luigi Moretti-designed, 1960s structure. The Post says few office buildings have been sold in the D.C. region amidst the recession. [Washington Post]
