OK, so it's not really an underground lair stocked with supplies. The aging outdoor eating venue called the Bombshelter is getting the heave-ho to make way for a $16.5 million student center that will begin construction in December, reports The Daily Bruin. The South Campus Student Center will be three times larger than the Bombshelter and feature a jumble of restaurants serving 2,600 daily meals. They'll also be extra seating, a store, and meeting space for student groups. According to the Bruin, "the new architecture will emphasize a 'landscape' look with a green building design... featuring landscaping by water-efficient plants." Great, just make sure they have pizza Fridays. [Daily Bruin]
