Earlier this year, local philanthropist Eli Broad announced plans to build a museum in Beverly Hills to permanently house his extensive art collection. To build his new museum, he invited numerous architects to submit designs as part of a competition. The list of architects, according to an Architects Newspaper story, included: Thom Mayne, Jean Nouvel, Shigeru Ban, Rafael Viñoly, and Christian de Portzamparc. Additionally, we hear Steven Holl was on the list. There's some rumblings that a winner may have been picked, but foundation spokesperson Karen Denne tells us: "We aren't announcing or confirming anything at this point because it is a private competition."
