Silver Lake Isn't Alone*

New, 36 comments

There were 9 violent street robberies in the Silver Lake/Echo Park in January, according to LAist.com, leading some to wonder why the LAPD haven't been more forthcoming about reporting the attacks. But it's not just Silver Lake that's feeling on edge. A Curbed family member writes: "My neighborhood in Hollywood is being attacked too. There are flyers all over the place warning of assaults, car break ins and car vandalism. It just started in December." Citing Police Chief Bratton, LAist.com reports there's been an uptick in recent robberies city-wide, but a decline in property crime. UPDATE: We should point out we don't know the typical number of violent robberies that occur each month in Silver Lake/Echo Park. UPDATE, II: Fox News is saying this is likely gang related. And more information here. [LAist.com/Eastsider LA]
