New To Market: Van Pelt House in Pasadena

New, 21 comments

For those unfamiliar with the name Van Pelt, Garrett Van Pelt was active in the 1920s and 30s in LA, Pasadena, and Palm Springs, most notably with his business partner, George Lind. The three-bedroom, three-bath house he built as his own residence in Pasadena is now on the market, and features twelve-foot ceilings, steel-cased windows, and a relatively open plan for indoor/outdoor living. Per the listing, "With obvious influence from his European counterparts, Van Pelt designed this home to consciously straddle the line between International style, and the grand earthen structures that he photographed on his frequent visits to Mexico." Last sold in June 2006 for $1.425 million, the current asking price is $1.499 million or $502 per square foot.
