On the Racked: Trader Joe's on Olympic, Free Americana Parking, Perse Gets Political

New, 18 comments

The latest store info, retail gossip and sidewalk scenes from street-obsessed Racked LA.

WEST LA: The latest Trader Joe's to rise: This gloomy-looking set shows the newest Joe's at 11612 Olympic, near Barrington. It won't be done until later this year, but here's what you're getting: A new 10,500-square foot store, plus a Walgreens. Meanwhile, our shopping sister spots the liquor license for the TJS that'll move into 1600 Vine in Hollywood.

GLENDALE: Get 'em in, get 'em shopping. Good news, Americana at Brand shoppers: From Monday to Thursday, parking at the mall is now free. Will such a move spur sales? Is free mall parking the new condo auction? Is employing a question mark a lazy way to write? Yes, yes, and yes.

BEVERLY HILLS: Even shopping is political. Writes Racked LA: "At first, we figured that this display [in the window of James Perse's store] of adoration for Beverly Hills City Council member Linda Briskman was down to her record of support for the area's retail interests...But further digging revealed that a couple of years ago, at least, Perse was engaged to Briskman's eldest daughter, Brandi." Hmmm.
