Curbed Reader Comment Round-Up

New, 2 comments

The best posts usually originate in our comments. To give appreciation to our amazing (and sometimes angry) commenters we feature their broad strokes of wisdom in a tidy comment roundup.

1) State Budget Bites Transit, But LA in Good Place, says Metro "It's ridiculous that the billion dollars from the stimulus bill can only go toward capital projects. There's already way too much of a bias toward capital subsidy in federal transit funding and not nearly enough funding of operations, meaning that agencies have every incentive in the world to massively overbuild their systems."

2) LA Times' Great Map Project Launches, Everyone Weighs In "About the only thing the Times got correct was not including Silver Lake, Echo Park and Los Feliz in the Eastside. Now hipsters are going to have to look for another regional name to make themselves feel edgy and cool. I suggest, calling it 'The high-rent poser district'."

3) Michael Bay May Have Destroyed Downtown LA Again "I'm not sure if I am more horrified by the thought of giant machines destroying downtown L.A. or the thought of going to see this movie."

4) Hollywood's First Ghost Building? Madrone Developer Files for Bankruptcy: "Christ, everyone here screams for the market to fall, clapping their hands with glee, and now they lament the empty shells, stalled projects, and shitty economy that come with it. What are all these posters going to do for coming 5 years of zero activity? Oh, rename LA neighborhoods, gotcha."
