To try and lure tourists, city officials in oft-overlooked Torrance are considering adding a visitors center, reports the Daily Breeze. This isn't the first time a visitors center and convention bureau have been considered, while the city also launched a web site (which now is out of date, according to the newspaper) to bring in visitors. More via the Breeze: "The latest effort at establishing a visitors center was initiated by the city's two largest hotels, the Marriott and Doubletree. Both have a sizable weekday business clientele. But come the weekends, businesspeople vanish and few visitors take their place, said Pam Ryan, general manager at the Torrance Marriott. "People don't see Torrance as a destination," she said. "Most people don't know Torrance has its own beach." [Daily Breeze]
