Reducing Aural Stimulation Near LAX

New, 1 comment

An announcement went out today that the Harry H. Joh Construction company snagged a $1.5 million contract to sound-proof 40 single-family homes, one duplex, and a five-unit apartment complex—all located near LAX. The work is part of the LAX Residential Soundproofing Program, which includes more than 9,400 residences in South Los Angeles, Westchester and Playa del Rey (about 6,600 of those housing units have already been, or are close to, soundproofed). Airport-adjacent Angelenos who qualify for the program get double-paned windows, solid-core doors, fireplace doors, attic baffles, and heating/AC insulation all in an effort to lessen the jumbo jet noise by one-half.
