The City Council decided today to cap marijuana dispensaries in the city at 70, but also to allow the 137 or so that registered with the city under its 2007 moratorium to stay open (they might have to move). The decision is part of a larger marijuana ordinance that hasn't been voted on yet. And here's a fun fact about the cap from the LAT: "With no data on the number of medical marijuana patients in Los Angeles, council members took the same approach as other cities that have adopted caps: picking a number that sounded reasonable to them."
