Too bad the economy's in the crapper—the area is in the midst of a hotel renaissance. This one may be smaller than the forthcoming W Hollywood and Downtown Ritz, but yesterday, the Miyako Hybrid Hotel opened in Torrance, reports the Daily Breeze. The 7-story, 208-room hotel will mainly serve Japanese business travelers given its proximity to the national HQs of Honda and Toyota sales offices. The hotel filled in a three-acre empty lot long seen as a "neighborhood eyesore," and according to the Breeze, city officials are now looking to make this whole area around Western and 213th more pedestrian-friendly.
