Listen up, leather-faced tanning addicts: The new health care bill includes a 10 percent tax on indoor tanning services, a move meant to deter the use of tanning beds, now considered as dangerous as cigarettes. According to the New York Times, the tanning companies will likely absorb the cost themselves, rather than raise prices. And the companies sound pretty pissy. “We are the convenient scapegoats for the cosmetic surgery industry,” Lewis Shender, head of Hollywood Tans Group, tells the paper. [NYT]
