For the first time since Prop 13 passed in 1978, California property taxes will reflect negative inflation, reports the New York Times. The State Board of Equalization set a preliminary estimate for deflation at 0.237 percent, which the NYT says will reduce property taxes for owners whose property values have fallen by about $2.60 per $100,000.
