The Market Coming to Santa Monica, Tar Pit Debuts, Bar Bouchon Opens Below Restaurant

SANTA MONICA: Will the newly remodeled Santa Monica Place be LA's version of SF's Ferry Building? We'll find out next summer, when The Market (pictured) debuts, featuring "independently-owned purveyors" selling gourmet cheeses, fresh fish, meat, flowers, and chocolate. Target opening is August 2010.

MID-CITY: Opened to the public last night, Eater checks out Mark Peel's Tar Pit, designed to feel like a "40's era supper club."

BEVERLY HILLS: Debuting to slightly less hype than the restaurant itself, Thomas Keller's Bar Bouchon opens today beneath the main restaurant. Expect small plates and a full bar.
