UCLA's New Police Station Nearly Finished

New, 6 comments

Well, it's not as impressive as the new LAPD HQ, but UCLA is getting a brand new $20 million headquarters. Construction, which began in July 2008, wraps up at the end of the year, with staff move-ins in the early months of 2010. The new 23,800 square foot structure was seismically upgraded, designed by Los Angeles-based Studios Architecture (it features the brick facade ubiquitous on the Westwood campus), and replaces a previous 11,600 square foot police HQ built in 1958, (now demolished). Currently, the UCLA cops are working out of the bottom floor of a building on the edge of Westwood Village (close to all those jaywalkers).
