Cherokee Lofts Gets Green Thumbs Up

New, 1 comment

The Pugh+Scarpa-designed Cherokee Lofts on Fairfax has long-touted its musical connections (it sits on the former spot of Cherokee Studios), but it also bills itself as environmentally-friendly. Yesterday, the project got a shout-out from Treehugger, a blog about sustainability. A Toronto blogger writes of the LEED Gold-certified mixed-user that opened last month, "I really like the fact that it is open in the middle, that there is the possibility of cross-ventilation through the units. This is the kind of design that is key to using less air conditioning. It is a great example of using old technologies that keep you cool without fossil fuels." There's also electric car charging outlets for every unit, bike storage, and a green roof. [Treehugger]
