Currently, you can ride the BART rail system to SFO airport, and quite possibly in three years, Bay Area travelers will able to take the BART to the Oakland airport. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that BART's board OK'd a 3.2-mile people mover for the airport that could break ground in the summer. Meanwhile, back in LA, the Green Line extension to LAX remains a nebulous idea (currently, airport officials are studying whether its feasible), with Metro saying it could open by—wait for it—2018.
