After approving light-rail through South LA on and around Crenshaw Boulevard, Metro also agreed to move forward with a study of an extension* of the Green Line—which currently dead-ends from Norwalk to an area near Redondo Beach—further into the South Bay, terminating at Torrance Transit Center with options for further extensions. Metro's press release says the price tag of bringing the light-rail to "Torrance (4.6-miles) is estimated at $495 million (2009 dollars) and would generate approximately 5,800 daily riders. " [Metro] UPDATED* The MTA "ordered further study in a Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Report (DEIS/R) of an extension of Metro Green Line," but didn't order the line itself. Just for those keeping score at home.
