Today in billboard news: Yesterday, San Francisco voters nixed a plan to create a sign district in a "grimy" area around Market Street, a move which would have allowed billboards, including digital boards (the money was intended to fund arts and youth programs), reports the AP. And here's more via the SF Examiner: "The measure’s main backer, David Addington, said allowing billboards that promote the arts could attract businesses to the neighborhood, eventually turning the area into the “Times Square of the West.” [AP/Examiner]
