The Los Angeles Times has the latest on Elephant Hill, site of a proposed 24-home subdivision in El Sereno. Today the City Council voted to settle a lawsuit (the battle over this one has been going on for quite some time) and buy the property for $9 million. More about the suit: "The developers of the property, Monterey Hills Investors, sued the city last year after the council demanded more environmental review of the project, planned for a site known as Elephant Hill." How's our struggling city going to pay for the land, which'll eventually be converted into a park? The city says it'll borrow money in the short term, and then hit up the state, according to the paper. [LA Times]
