CARealEstateJournal.com reports that developers will no longer be able to design private entrances to planned communities however they please. The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works' Land Development division approved a set of design standards for private drives in master-planned developments that include guidelines on "horizontal geometry, vertical design and signing, striping and lighting." Jason Fukumitsu of Hunsaker & Associates-LA came up with the standards and says, "Increasingly, we're seeing developers proposing private drives for use in their master-planned communities due to their smart growth and sustainability aspects, so I thought it was critical to have design standards in place."
