Despite a settlement with the city of Walnut over that proposed NFL stadium, developer Majestic still may be able to skirt having to do a new environmental review on the site, reports the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, noting the Senate could vote on the bill in the next two weeks. "It would be the first time the legislature has intervened with a pending CEQA lawsuit," reports the paper, quoting those who fear that "if the bill passes, deep-pocketed developers with political muscle will come knocking for exemptions from the California Environmental Quality Act that governs development."
