Metro announced today the Gold Line extension into Little Tokyo, Boyle Heights, and East LA will open on Sunday, November 15th, three weeks from yesterday. The debate about the safety of the Gold Line rages on over Streetsblog, which weighs in on LA County supervisor Gloria Molina's recent comments at last week's Metro Board meeting. Molina did help secure $4.5 million in added security for the six-mile, $900 million extension, including fencing to stop jaywalkers on the tracks. On a lighter note, rides are free on that opening day of Sunday, November 15th, and numerous fiestas are planned along the route. [Image via Light Rail Big Photo blog]
