CurbedWire: Beverly West Just Slow Going? Climate Rally This Weekend

WILSHIRE CORRIDOR: Just waiting out the recession, perhaps? We recently stopped by the construction site at Emaar Properties' Beverly West property on Club Drive and Wilshire Blbd and were told by a worker that a "skeleton" construction crew was working on the project. Sounds like things are going along still, but slowly. A rep for the Dubai-based company didn't respond to an email. Back in May, the project, designed by Pasadena-based Keating/Khang hit the MLS: A 4,158 square foot unit was listed for $8.1 million. [Curbed Staff]

WEST LA: But carpool to the event! This Saturday, there's something called a "Global Day of Climate Action," an event being put on by UCLA and LMU. More via the presser: "On Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, concerned students, faculty, staff, and community members from Loyola Marymount University and the University of California, Los Angeles will hold a teach-in and rally in conjunction with over 2500 similar events in more than 100 countries as part of the Global Day of Climate Action. The purpose of the event is to urge bold action on climate change with the long-term goal of returning levels of atmospheric CO2 to 350 parts per million (ppm) and to ensure that the United States goes to December’s UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen poised to lead the global response to the climate crisis." It's being held at Los Angeles Federal Building, 11000 Wilshire Blvd, Saturday from 10am-12pm. [Curbed InBox]
