Last week, the LA Times ran a front page story about a homeless 97-year-old woman who lived in her 1973 Chevrolet Suburban in Venice. Today, the New York Times runs a front page story about a homeless Cleveland woman who lived in her Hyundai sedan. Via the NYT: "Only three years ago, foreclosure was rarely a factor in how people became homeless. But among the homeless people that social service agencies have helped over the last year, an average of 10 percent lost homes to foreclosure...." notes the paper, adding that the homelessness situation is exacerbated in California by unemployment rates.
