The latest move on the part of the City Council to help people stop eating so damn much: Curbing the number of small stores that sells snacks in South LA. This tactic follows last week's Rand Report that found that curtailing the number of fast food chain stores isn't so effective. More via the LA Times: "The proposal, part of the developing Southeast Los Angeles Community Plan, would prohibit such small neighborhood markets from being closer than one-half mile from one another unless they sold fresh fruit and vegetables." People are already flipping out that 7-Elevens may be taken away. [LA Times]
