Globe St. reports that there's a major parcel of land for sale at 313 Grand Boulevard, a plot located just a block and a half from the ocean. It's unclear what type of development might go in, but a hotel, residential, retail and more are mentioned by the listing broker. And this being Venice, expect a feisty fight (let us not forget the battle over the Ray Hotel) over what should rise on this site. According to Globe St. the 1.78-acre site, owned by United States Postal Service, formerly housed a Safeway grocery store. More via GS: "The USPS did not list an asking price in its offering for the property, which has drawn interest from potential buyers throughout the US, including New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Southern California, according to [Grubb and Ellis vice president Martin] McDermott. He notes that those who responded to the RFP include owner-users, investors and developers."
