The second coming of the 1920s-era Phil's Diner is a component of developer JH Snyder's massive NoHo Commons III mixed-use project in North Hollywood, near the convergence of the Red and Orange lines. Since the last visit, it looks like perhaps Phil's is gearing up for some activity. Aside from a refurbished Phil's, the third phase will bring a 181,000-square-foot office building with 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, a seven?screen Laemmle Theatre (currently delayed), and a 700?space parking garage. The San Fernando Valley Business Journal reported earlier this month that the new office building, which include the Art Institute of California as a tenant, will open in October.
